Afterleaf is a brand that understands the significant origin of clothing. Genesis 3:21 states that “God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them”. Prior to this event, Adam and Eve, upon consumption of the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, “knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings” (v.7). Adam and Eve attempt to create a method which may hide their sin and disobedience. However, God reminds us that we are inadequate to conceal our sin and takes it upon His hands to create a suitable covering, confronting sin with forgiveness, replacing fig leaves with skins. Likewise, God has created the ultimate garment for us through the ultimate sacrifice, through the ultimate act of love, through the ultimate gift of grace, and through forgiveness accomplished out of the life and death of Christ Jesus. No longer are we to hide from our sins, like Adam and Eve did with leaves, but we are to accept the all-encompassing forgiveness that comes strictly from the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Thus the name Afterleaf.
